West Hills Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

If you are searching for a spiritual home that is guided not by dogma or a set creed but by an open-minded quest for truth and meaning, welcome to the West Hills Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (WHUUF). We are a liberal religious community that encourages you to seek your own spiritual path wherever it leads, to nurture your spirit and put your faith into action by helping to make our communities and the world a better place.

At WHUUF we experience a vibrant and living tradition of music, worship, affirmation and transformation. This fellowship is a place where people gathering from many walks of life find a common denominator in our respect for the dignity and worth of each individual. Unitarian Universalism is based on:

Announcing the Arrival of Reverend Sarah Movius Schurr

On August 1, West Hills UU Fellowship welcomes Reverend Sarah Schurr as the new quarter-time minister. The congregation has been excited for her arrival and has been assembling a three-person committee tasked with supporting Sarah in the upcoming year.

Her many tasks include providing support for our leaders, pastoral care to members, and speaking at worship services several times during the year. Sarah works with WHUUF on a quarter- time contract but she is always our minister. She has drop-in office hours at WHUUF on the 4th Wednesday of every month, from 11:00–3:00, and is also available by appointment. You can reach our minister at 503-936-0479 or this email link (select Minister from the drop down Category menu).

Sundays at WHUUF

From September through May, we offer Sunday morning services at 9 AM and 11 AM.  Child care is available during the 9 AM service and religious education classes are during the 11 AM service. Children attend the first part of both services for a story or activity, before they go to child care or religious education classes. This congregation is lay-led with support from a quarter-time minister. Most functions of the Fellowship are conducted by the membership. Outside speakers are often brought in, covering a wide variety of issues and concerns. Music is an important part of each service and members are encouraged to perform or participate. After the service a coffee time downstairs offers an opportunity for members to socialize and welcome newcomers.

Although our Sunday service program is the focus of our Fellowship, we sponsor other activities: social action and environmental concerns, religious education for children and adults, a variety of social activities (often including food), outdoor activities, family camping, retreats, and meetings to manage and govern our Fellowship.

We invite you to join us any Sunday.  Sit with us.  Worship with us.  Get to know us at our coffee hour.  Who knows, we might be the home you've been looking for.
