The mission of this web site is to connect more fully with the members and friends of West Hills Unitarian Universalist Fellowship and the larger community of which we are a part.
The WHUUF presence and use of the Internet currently consists of four parts: an open website, a members-only website, an unmoderated discussion group and a nearly complete moderated mailing list of WHUUF members and friends. More websites or lists can be added as needed.
The WHUUF websites are encoded in accordance with the Any Browser Campaign and Bobby, the visually handicapped standard.
The open website is WHUUF's face to the world. More than anything else it is a first impression of who and what WHUUF is. Therefore, it must represent the ideals and ideology of the membership.
The closed web site is for WHUUF members only and requires the use of a login name and password. Both the login and the password will be changed periodically and the membership notified in the Newsletter.
The unmoderated discussion group, discussion@whuuf.org, is open to any member or friend of WHUUF. Members of this list are responsible for keeping the discussion polite and respectful, with no questionable language or derogatory statements. Violators of this policy are subject to summary removal. The ideas and views in the messages do not in any way reflect the views and ideas of WHUUF as an organization. WHUUF is not responsible for the content of any posting to this group.
The moderated message list is open to all members and friends of WHUUF. Any member who wants onto the list or off of it should send e-mail to the WHUUF webmaster with their request. The purpose of this list is to notify the WHUUF community of imminent (less than a week) events or of major changes to the schedule (i.e. it's snowing and services are cancelled.) The messages must be related to the activities of the WHUUF membership or open events held at WHUUF. The individual messages are to be no longer than four sentences, and should include a contact name, phone number and e-mail address as appropriate. Several may be sent out together as one longer message. The moderator has the right to edit messages for any reason. The contents of this list is the responsibility of the moderator and any support committee. The messages will be e-mailed in the form of a message to the moderator with the list sent out under the blind carbon copy protocol so that any replies will go to the moderator and can not be sent to the full list. The moderator will forward replies as appropriate.
This e-policy was approved by the WHUUF Board of Trustees November 8, 2000.
