Pathways Religious Growth & Learning (RGL) Program

The Pathways Religious Growth and Learning (RGL) program for Children and Youth involves the whole congregation. We share worship each Sunday, hold winter and spring intergenerational services, and work and play together in community wide activities.   We explore our Unitarian Universalist faith in a variety of ways - participation in  worship experiences, hearing wisdom stories from many faith tradtions; exploring ideas through art, drama, movement, and play; involvement in service projects; and community building activities.   An optional sexuality education program (Our Whole Lives/OWL) and a Coming of Age/Credo experience are held in alternate years for our middle school youth.

Summer Sundays  10:00-11:00 am  (June, July and August 2012)

Children go directly to their RGL meeing place during summer Sundays.  A multi age youth community will meet to light a chalice, share joys and sorrows, and learn about Unitarian Universalist Values and Principles using the "Cat in the Hat" themed curiculum. (Please check your children in with the teacher before leaving for the service.)

 Sundays 9:00 -10:15 am  (September - May)

Families join together in the Sanctuary for the family service (chalice lighting, song and intergenerational worship). After 15 minutes or so, preschool and elementary aged children are sung out for supervised age appropriate activities.   Nursery care is provided for those 3 and under.

Sundays 11:00 am - 12:15 pm (September - May)

Families join together in the Sanctuary for the family service (chalice lighting, song and intergenerational worship). After 15 minutes or so,  children are sung out to meet in their RGL groups for learning, crafts, celebration and activities. Group rituals and nutritious snacks are enjoyed.  The program continues until 12:15- (12:30 for middle school youth) , those up to fourth grade remain in their room until picked up by an adult.

Following the service, children are invited to join adults in the coffee room, or to join classmates in exploring the grounds. Parents are responsible for supervising their children once class time is over.

We hope you and your family will visit our Fellowship. When you come,  mark "interest in RE" on the information form at the Welcome desk in the foyer, so we can keep you informed of coming events.

If you decide to make WHUUF your faith community (or you visit more than 3-4 times) we request that you fill out a more detailed registration form so that we have contact information for the children in the program. There is a small registration fee; scholarships are available. Our cooperative program encourages and expects every parent to help in some way. A questionnaire on the back of the registration form allows us to match your interests to our needs. Your involvement should be fun for you too!

Information about current Pathways offerings can be found in the WHUUF newsletter and the RGL insert in the order of service.    More detailed information about our program is available. Feel free to contact Rebecca Gammons for more information.
