THE DOLL GARDNER GALLERY

JANUARY 2012 - FEED THE HUNGRY A special dialog on Hunger in our communities

The economy.  Budget cuts.  Layoffs.  Foreclosures.  Wherever you go, whatever you do, these issues confront us.  They leave in their wake people who are hungry, and the number of hungry people has doubled in the past year.

For the month of January each year the Doll Gardner gallery hosts a show of non-profits or causes that express our principle of Social Justice in our congregations and our communities.  It is a time that we invite the wider world – our Portland Metro community – into dialog about important issues.  This year we are happy to host Loaves and Fishes, Family Bridge, Tualatin Valley Gleaners, Northwest Portland Ministries, The Sunshine Food Pantry, The Oregon Food Bank, Neighborhood House and other non-profits providing food services to the hungry in Washington County and the greater Portland Metro area.

The gallery wishes to thank and celebrate all organizations and the legion of volunteers who collect, grow, store., recover surplus food from local restaurants, grocers, caterers and farmers markets and distribute food to people in need in these difficult economic times. The public is invited to an opening  reception Sunday, Jan. 7th from 12:30 – 2pm, 8470 SW Oleson Rd., Portland, Oregon 97223.  For information, call 503/246-3351 Ext. 4.
